Endangered Reptiles: Gecko_001

A fantastic leaf-tailed gecko is seen at the Reptile Discovery Center at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park on Monday July 25, 2011 in Washington, DC. This gecko is found in Madagascar. This fantastic leaf-tailed gecko is licking its eye to keep it clean and moist, due to the fact that they do not have eyelids. Jim Murphy, Curator for the Reptile Discovery Center at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park and Matt Evans, Supervisory Biologist for the Reptile Discovery Center have been bringing more species into the reptile collection that need animal conservation.
